7) Safe Work Practices and Procedures

I can pretty much guarantee that this is a topic that will have you scratching you head.

Whaddaya mean?

Trust me on this.  All those rules we all live with, generally come about at the result of someone being injured, or worse yet, being killed.  I know a lot of you are saying Use Common Sense, and you will be OK.  While this is generally reasonable advice, there are always exceptions, which is what can get you if you dont follow the basics.  So, rules are created to help protect you from the unknown conditions we are often eposed to, or are beyond our control.

Ask yourself what if???

  • Is there a proper method to change a flat tire on the trailer
    • With the cargo loaded, or do I unload?
  • How do I unload the cargo
    • Drive on Back off OR Back on  Drive off
  • What about cargo securement?  Most provincial /  state laws require you to secure your cargo from movement. (Section 4)
