2010-50th Anniversary Show

This article, detailing the 50th Anniversary Draggins Rod & Custom Car Show is in development and will be up in whole or in part as it progresses, along with several hundred photo’s of the highlights, the people and most of all “THE CARS”With the help of Reggie, a lot of information was gathered about the cars and the owners where available.Unfortunately, due to a little illness, I found myself alone by mid day trying to gather images and take notes. Not a particularly practical situation. I fear it is not as organized as was intended, so this aspect may be a little hit and miss.
One of the highlights of the event aside from all the great cars and renewing old friendships, was chatting with special guest Duane Mayer, well known in automotive circles for his knowledge and ability to assemble world class Hot Rods as shop foreman in the Boyd Coddington shop, featured on the Smash Success TV series AMERICAN HOT ROD
Most of you know that sadly, and at great loss to the automotive community, Boyd passed on unexpectedly, which left the future of the Coddington operation up in the air.  Things eventually ran their course, and Duane, the consummate rodder, decided to continue along his current path doing what he has passion for, building hot rods.  Duane rallied some of the key staff, and opened his own operation in Anaheim California, calling it what else,AMERICAN HOT RODS.
What has happened for the Coddington clan you ask? With their life long involvement in the hot rod community, what else would you expect, they are carrying on the family tradition. The Sons Of Boyd(SOB) has been formed, marketing the Genuine Boyds line of custom wheels and recently partnered with well known wheel maker Savini, to introduce a new line of wheels for all of us to enjoy and use on our own creations.
I was fortunate to renew acquaintance with old friend, Wayne Halabura.  Wayne, having known Duane for many years, supplied two of his personal collection for the American Hotrods Display. Wayne is well known around North America for his ability to bring together all the elements to make a fantastic rod by any ones standards.  You might say he’s the Canadin Coddington, even though his shirts are not as colourful as Boyds

constant stream of classic tunes and entertainment was provided by Lou Fontaine and Hot Rod Hullabaloo.  These guys put on a helluva show and fit the bill perfectly.  If you need entertainment, give them a shout.www.hotrodhullabaloo.com
