Power Tools

Tools, tools, tools.. Is there anything that can make a man happier?..

Scratch that..  Is there anything that can make a man happier for longer, without the presence of a woman?
 I think not 🙂

I won’t bother you with details of all the silly little things..  But, there are some things it’s hard to be without if you are getting serious about working on customs and rods, or just building stuff in general.  You’ll have to decide what you need for your application..  I have my prefered brands, which will become obvious..  But, it’s because these have PROVEN themselves to me, time and time again..

You can never really go wrong paying a little extra for QUALITY, which is entirely different than paying extra for a NAME.  Make up your own mind, I did..

Here’s another reliable Milwaukee time saver that is well built with a light weight cast aluminium chassis.  Before I got my floor model band saw, I relied on this for all my heavy cutting.  In fact, the material for the four post hoist was all cut using this baby.  I could have used a hack saw, and would likely have finished shortly before I died of old age (and boredom).  Or, I could have used the good old gas axe, and spent hours grinding all the slag off, straightening up and beveling edges.. Well, there goes a whole mess more time..  OR, I could just use the hand held band saw..  This thing will cut through anything that the saw can fit over.  While helping a friend build a rotisary for his current project, I sliced 1/4″ wall 4X4 box in a little over a minute.  That’s not too shabby.  I’ve had people say “I can do the same thing with a chop saw”, which is more or less true.  The advantage to the bandsaw is that you bring it to the material‚ where you have to bring the material to the chop saw.  Not much of a distinction, until you have to do the cutting.  Then there is the heat, and the sparks, and the grinding dust and the noise.  For my buck, and my hearing, I’ll take the bandsaw

 SAWSALL

It’s hard to understand how you ever got by without one of these if you have ever chopped a  car roof without one.
The original ‘Sawsall’, earned its name by being capable of  doing just that!  It will cut and slice through pretty much anything you can throw at it.  There is a blade to fit every need, metal, wood and combinations there of.  In fact, Milwaukee built the first ‘Sawsall’, which is where the name originates from that we all use now refering to this type of tool, much like ‘Kleenex’ is the original, but the term is used no matter who made it.  That in its self, speaks volumes of the tool and the maker.  Immitation is the greatest form of flattery.
I work my tools hard, and I have yet to kill any of my Milwaukee power tools.  Most can purchase one of these, and likely never have to worry about having to replace it in their life time.  In fact, it may last a couple lifetimes.  You AND your son’s!

There are a few added features, reduced weight and a little additional power in the higher Milwaukee Sawsall models.  If that’s what you want, GO FOR IT!

But, if you just want to get it done, without breaking the bank, the basic model WILL do it.  After everything I have ever tried,  I have yet to stall or bind mine out.  It will shake the hell out of YOU before it quits.
Unlike many power tools these days, you’ll still find metal in Milwaukee in the areas it counts.  For my money, I’ll take a Milwaukee Sawsall over everything else out there as it has proven its self over and over..
