Spring Fling 2011

Another year, and another “Spring Fling” care of Ken and Mary-Jane Beauchemin.  Mother nature co-operated this year with a reasonably sunny day and temps around 24 c and a gentle breeze to keep the bugs at bay.  A few of the regular suspects were to be found, sporting their winter ‘kegs’.  Very nice to see was the presence of the ‘next’ generation of builders and enthusiasts, including a 16 year old, with his first car, which happens to be a nice clean nostalgia digger.  Already with a few championships under his belt.  With that kind of start, he’ll have a bright career ahead of him.  Of course, there was a smattering of never before seen, as is the nature of the fling, to display your winters efforts.  Let me tell you, the future is bright indeed.  I pasted together a panorama shot so you get the idea of the event.  It’s not a huge event, rather, a gathering of friends old and new.  Naturally, the ‘Bush Party” and BBQ, was to be found in the shrubbery to the right.  That would explain why there are not that many people around the cars!  The most recent Pull Tractor built in Kens shop the ‘Dirt Wrangler’ was on display.  Kens ‘Boss Blue’ tractor was on the scene, ready to make a pull or two with the new sled.  Unfortunatly, on firing the tractor with the new engine, there was an oil pressure issue, so no passes today, but, she sounded great and I’m sure we can look forward to a top performance year once again.  Never known to be idle, still another tractor is being assembled in the shop, and everyone had a chance to see what is under the skin of these machines.
